Sunday, December 2: It’s a full morning on December 2! PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) has invited Faith to become a once-a-week shelter for the homeless in our area, and Faith’s Council invited Doug Kenshol to preach this Sunday morning as we consider. Mr. Kenshol is executive director at South Suburban PADS. At noon, following our later worship service, all are invited for a town hall meeting in the sanctuary to hear more about it and ask questions. At 9:30am, children briefly practice music for the Christmas program. At 9: 30, the Advent Fair begins- join us for crafts, Advent wreath making, and a unique project for the whole congregation. Bring candle rings if you have one at home. If you don’t plan to make an Advent wreath this year, please return the candle ring to the church so that someone else might use it this year. We also welcome new members this Sunday! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday, November 30, Middle school + high school night Starting at 6pm, we’ll eat pizza, play games, and work on a service project together. Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring donations! We’ll make kits for Respond Now & Lutheran World Relief. Respond Now would like crayons & coloring books. LWR would like health kits, which includes: light weight bath towel (dark color recommended), 2-3 bars of soap totaling 8-9 ounces, one adult sized tooth brush, one sturdy comb, one metal nail clippers. We need a parent to hang out with us please! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Let’s Grow This!”: Bringing Forward Our Gifts November 11 was Faith’s “Consecration Sunday.” As part of our worship we brought forward our pledge cards for 2019 to the altar. A pledge is your own personal plan for supporting the ministry of the church in the coming year, an estimate of what you plan to give in 2019. We bring it to the altar during the offering because your financial support isn’t like membership dues. It’s offering: what you give to make God’s grace and peace known in the world. It’s part of your work to build a world that reflects the kingdom of God! It was great: “Let’s Grow This!,” we said, and we received pledges from 70 households, and 46 of those indicated an increase, to help make ministry happen! Did you miss it? You CAN still participate! Pick up a pledge card at the ushers’ table, just outside the sanctuary. Or contact the church office, secretary@faithhomewood.org [mailto:secretary@faithhomewood.org]. You can drop the card into the offering, or mail in to the church office. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Respond Now needs: Macaroni & cheese & pudding Respond Now is the emergency social service agency that blankets our area. They are always in need of personal hygiene items, as well as non-perishable food items. This month, they’re looking for boxes of macaroni & cheese as well as boxes of pudding. Drop your gifts in the Respond Now area in the church narthex (gathering area). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Congregation meeting Sunday, December 9 Following our worship services on Sunday, December 9, Faith’s Council has called a congregation meeting at 12 noon. Plan to be there, to consider two important things for our community:
* To undertake a capital appeal in 2019 in the spring, for a new roof (including payment of a $25,000 deposit toward the roof contract), a new sign, window and other capital repairs, to be tithed (10%). * That Faith become a PADS site in early 2019 conditioned on enrolling appropriate volunteer, non-pastoral, congregational leadership. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
