FAITHOUGHTS God Shows Up in the Oddest of Places Maria Arndt “You are a woman of God, right?”, said a friendly acquaintance of mine. When she approached I happened to be seated at a bar and grill that I frequent. Wow. What a compliment. To be recognized in public as you go about your daily life as Child of God is high praise and yet daunting. High praise for a sinner that does not always wear the robe of righteousness well. What followed her greeting … was a personal exchange that I will not share the details of in order to respect her privacy. What I can share is that she was suffering from enormous grief from a recent death of a family member but said she never felt closer to God. She was seeking solace and comfort from the church. She visited several churches on her search. The issue is that she could not find a church where she felt that her family would be accepted and loved. I, myself, have felt unwelcome and even banished from the house of the Lord. I understood her great longing and sadness. So for me to be able to share that I have pastors and a church family that would welcome her with open arms was so exciting and reassuring to us both! To say that I am thankful for a loving church where I feel welcome, loved and safe is an understatement! Isn’t this truly a picture of what Heaven is like? None of us deserve to get in there and be welcomed. Yet Jesus added our names to the book of life in our Baptism and reserved our spots! Our name is on the list! Heaven is our home! Thank you Faith Lutheran Church for being a welcoming place of solace and joy on this Earth! A foretaste of the feast to come! Maria Arndt is a member of Faith. In her daily ministry she works as a kindergarten teacher. She’s at MArndt@sd194.org [mailto:MArndt@sd194.org]. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Building Vision!” Faith’s 2019 capital needs appeal We need a new roof this year! And we need other things, too: a new sign for our outreach ministry, a paint job for the place, and of course we tithe 10% to ministries beyond our own. We’ll kick off Building Vision, our capital funding campaign, with an all-congregation information dinner on SUNDAY, MARCH 17, at noon. Plan to be there as we celebrate, and dream. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
