FAITHOUGHTS Summer days drifting away but oh, those summer nights! Maria Arndt My last two weekends have been consumed with graduation parties galore! It’s so exciting to celebrate with all of these kids that I have watched grow up! Four parties one week and three more this week. I’m so very thankful for the opportunity to visit with each of them & see the displays of their awards, accomplishments and photos documenting their lives so far. These graduates are so full of hope and excitement for what the future will bring. It takes me back to when I graduated high school and had the time of my life that summer. Slow dancing under the stars. Road trips with my friends. Legitimate bonfires (fire pits were not invented back then) with guitar strumming boys. Crickets singing. Porch swinging. Crusin’ up and down 25th Street with the windows down and Madonna blasting on the radio! The feeling of freedom, fun and joy lasted that whole summer! I could not imagine leaving all my friends and family and starting over at college. That feeling or a small taste of that feeling comes back to me occasionally. I often wonder if that is what Heaven will be like: An unending summer vacation! A party that continues into infinity. A reunion with those I loved and lost. No responsibilities! No pain! No sorrow! A feeling that everything is finally perfect. Music blasting angels! No bad choices! Total forgiveness! Unending praise! Thank God that He sent us Jesus because Jesus put my name on the clipboard at the gate granting me heavenly entrance! He ensured my place at the PARTY! Your name is there too, you forgiven Child of the Father! Now we just need to share that news of forgiveness so that all of our friends, all of the Father’s children do not miss out on the PARTY of a life time! Maria Arndt is a member of Faith. Church picnic this Sunday, June 23! Food and games for all! We’ll gather Sunday, June 23, beginning at 11am, right after worship. We’ll be outside, weather permitting. VBS is a roar! We’re in the middle of week one of Vacation Bible School. Please continue to pray for students and leaders that all may know and share God’s deep love. Are you able to get away during the day, and would you like to see something inspiring? Come to see the closing session sometime, 11:35 to noon each day this week. Singing, learnings, and stories about God’s love for us! We begin VBS (week 2 of 2),on Monday, June 24 . There are a few student openings left. Book study begins Small groups will start In Search of Belief by Joan Chittister. The book is available on Amazon, can be ordered by Bookie’s in Homewood, and a few copies available through church if cost is an issue.Groups gather: Wednesdays 6/19- 7/31, 7-8:30pm- Jillian Johnson and Quinn Kirchner lead this group for young adults and high schoolers Thursdays 6/20-8/1, 7- 8:30pm- child care provided! Saturdays 6/22- 8/3, 8:30-10:30am You can still sign up!
